Taittinger is one of the biggest champagne houses in the world based in Reims, in the Champagne-Ardenne. The brand was born in 1932 Taittinger acquisition by Pierre Taittinger castle de la Marquetterie, with the company which took over the existing Forest-Fourneaux, founded in 1734 by Jacques Fourneaux. He had worked closely with the Benedictine monks, then the owners of most of the surrounding vineyards. Among the previous owners also it includes the philosopher Jacques Cazotte died guillotined during the regime of Terror.

The Taittinger were wine merchants who moved in Champagne from Lorraine in 1870. The company's growth since the war has been continuous but the major boost was made by Claude Taittinger who directed from 1960 to 2005 bringing the brand a world leader. Taittinger is characterized by the predominant use of Chardonnay. Other grapes allowed for champagne as the Pinot Noir are used in smaller percentages than those of the main brands. Label of the "Comtes de Champagne" in 1966 with an American partner, the Kobrand Corporation that distributes their products in the United States, the Taittinger started since 1987 in Sonoma, California, a large winery called Domaine Carneros produces still and sparkling wines with champagne method on the model of the French parent company.
