The Aberfeldy Distillery, considered the Pearl of Perthshire, is situated on a hill overlooking the River Tay. Its foundation dates back to 1896 when thanks to the strong growth of Blended Whisky Thomas Robert and John Alexander Dewar (sons of John Dewar) decided to increase the production of single malt quality for their blend. The two brothers were very different from each other but at the same time complementary, Thomas Dewar was extroverted and had a great head for business, was one of the first Scottish distributors to bottle its blended, while John Alexander was serious and introverted and shopkeeper in the industry turned a short master blender of the highest quality.
The production process at Varela Hermanos S. A. starts with the distillation of alcohol from the juice of the sugarcane and the rum from molasses. Each year during the dry season (January through May) the company’s workforce in Pesé, made up of more than 200 permanent employees and 300 harvest time employees, set out to cut more than 50,000 tons of sugarcane from approximately 800 hectares of cultivated land owned by the company. The company counts with two bottling plants; one in Pesé in the province of Herrera, where Seco Herrerano is mainly bottled; another at the capital, in the province of Panama, where national brands such as Ron Abuelo, Ron Cortez, Gin Caballito and others are bottled.

Atlántico is one of the excellences of rum produced in the Dominican Republic, the chosen land for cane cultivation of the highest quality sugar, the raw material needed to accomplish great Rum. From the pressing of the sugar cane you get a very sweet juice, which is fermented and distilled to make rum light and delicate. For the most intense Rum, large, most body and complexity, it proceeds to the fermentation and distillation of molasses. For the aging of the most prestigious Rum, Atlántico using the solera method, which is to put more small barrels a file over the other, so that each barrel is connected to the one below. The rum from bottle always takes from the barrel further down, that contains the mixture with a higher percentage of Rum aged for a long time, so as to always ensure a quality of excellence.
One of the few triple-distilled single malts in Scotland, in May of 2008, Auchentoshan (pronounced ‘OKKen-TOSHan’) went through a revamp; bottle labels were altered, the range was changed and the visitor centre was renovated. The origins of the distillery are quite shrouded, it originally started life under the name ‘Duntocher’, which was first mentioned around the turn of the nineteenth century. In 1834, it was renamed Auchintoshan, taking from the Gaelic ‘achad oisnin’ or ‘corner of the field’.

Jago and David Gluckman, the protagonists behind this liquor, have since created many other beverages and products, in particular the cream liqueur Jago's, launched in 2004.

The history of the Mazzei family starts already from the 11th century and is closely linked not only to the Tuscan wine tradition, but also to the entire region's cultural life. Cantine Belisario was started in 1971. Today, it is a company with 300 hectares planted with grape vines, and a wine cellar with a capacity of 30,000 hectolitres. It is the largest producer of Verdicchio di Matelica D.O.C. All of the vineyards, located in the Alta Valle Esina, are within 10 minutes from the cellar. The company produces two brands: “BELISARIO” destined to restaurants and wine shops, and “POGGIO alle RONDINI” for large distribution.
Bellavista is one of the best known and most popular wineries in Franciacorta, famous strip of land capable of producing high quality sparkling wines. It comes from an intuition of Vittorio Moretti, who began making wine "to get away from the routine" and "found in his hand a jewel of the company." I was entranced by the elegance of his appearance, by the effortless sureness of his touch on the keys.
My gaze wandered around the venerable walls, over the family portraits, the valuable furnishings.
After closing the piano, the count greeted me warmly and began to ask me, the freshly-minted oenologist that I was at that time, about techniques for solving the instability problems with his wine.
I answered his questions forthrightly, and then, as I was taking my leave, I dared the question: "And what if we were to also produce a sparkling wine in the French method?"
The modern state-of-the-art Roccanivo distillery owned by the Berta family at Casalotto di Mombaruzzo opened in the grape harvest of 2002, a historic vintage for this family/business and for the economic development of the Asti wine sector. Other important dates for the company/family are 1947 (construction of the first distillery in Nizza Monferrato), the 1930’s (opening of a Berta pharmacy in Milan), and July 11, 1866 (Francesco Berta’s birth in Casalotto di Mombaruzzo).
The Bertani wine company was founded in 1857 by two brothers, Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, in Quinto di Valpantena to the north of Verona. Gaetano was already a wine-making expert, having learned the new techniques in France under Professor Guyot, who is still considered today to have been one of the greatest wine-making experts of all time. The start of the Bertani brothers’ work coincided with a new spirit of innovation which inspired them to use the latest production techniques, in both grape-growing and wine-making; they applied these techniques to all the vineyards they owned at the time, in the Valpantena and in the Soave area, but always respecting the territory and local agricultural traditions.
